Fujifilm today launched its first telephoto zoom XF Lens ‘Fujinon XF55-200mmF3.5-4.8 R LM OIS’ in India. The new Fujinon XF Lens is especially designed for Fujifilm X-Pro1 and X-E1 compact system cameras. The new XF Lens will be available in India from June 10 through major retail stores.
On launching the new Fujinon XF Lens for the X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras, Mr. Rohit Pandit, Executive VP, Sales & Marketing, Fujifilm India said;
“I am extremely happy to share the launch news. In India, the Lens will be available from 10th of June 2013. It will be a perfect companion to the X-E1 and X-Pro1 camera bodies, this lens is also an important milestone in our journey to populate more lenses for the Fujifilm interchangeable range.”
The XF Lens features advanced lens engineering which is claimed to draw maximum performance out of the highly descriptive X-Trans CMOS sensor available in the Fujifilm X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras. The lens has a measurement of 55-200mm and featuring an aperture of F3.5-4.8. The lens has built-in Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) that allows the use of shutter speeds 4.5 stops slower, it is claimed to prevent camera shake even when shooting hand-held in low-light, or at a stopped down aperture. The lens has two linear motors for high-speed AF of 0.28 seconds, this means the lens will have instant focusing support.
Fujinon XF Lens are designed to cover the mid-telephoto (84mm) to telephoto (305mm) range. Fujifilm has stated that the lens has “HT-EBC(High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating) ” on the entire lens surface, this achieves a highly preventative measure against reflections, and to control flair and ghosting. There is a 1/3EV step aperture ring available on the lens itself, this provide an ease to the user while taking pictures. For making the lens robust, Fujifilm has used metallic focus and aperture ring.
In order to make Fujifilm X-Pro1 and X-E1 cameras compatible with the new XF Lens, the company will soon provide a firmware upgrade. The updated firmware will enhance the focus speed to 0.7 sec. even if it searches from infinity to the Minimum Object Distance at the telephoto end. The firmware update for X-Pro1 and X-E1 will be available for download through Fujifilm website soon after the availability of the XF Lens.
