Flipkart today expanded its shopping platform by releasing a Windows 10 app. The new app comes as a universal Windows app to deliver consumers a unified experience on their mobile, tablet and desktop devices.
Using the combined efforts by Flipkart and Microsoft teams, the new Flipkart app for Windows 10 is claimed to offer a seamless experience to end consumers. It has a personalised interface that brings features such as customised shopping recommendations, merchandising and notification and an interactive guided search. Also, the app provides all the ‘App-only’ offers that the online marketplace often list to persuade consumers to opt its apps.
“At Flipkart, we strive to innovate and re-invent the customer experience at every touch-point,” says Amar Nagaram, Mobile Engineering, Flipkart, in a press statement. “Over the last few months, we have been working on the Windows 10 platform to create richer and more personalised experience for our consumers. We have been working towards creating a seamless experience similar to that of an app and Windows 10 surely provides opportunities to introduce innovative features.”
Delivers unified experience
To deliver a unified experience, the Flipkart app for Windows 10 has been developed to work with a hybrid hardware, which may have a touch or non-touch display panel. It is also optimised for different inputs including keyboard, mouse and trackpad to support a variety of devices.
“The Flipkart app for Windows 10 has been designed to offer a seamless and consistent experience across various form factors. By virtue of an online store being available 24×7, consumers will be able to pick up their selection and shopping process from where they left off across their range of Windows devices,” said Harish Vaidyanathan, Director of Independent Software Vendor Programs, Microsoft.
The new Flipkart app is touted to be one of the first apps for Microsoft’s latest Windows platform to sport a product tabs feature. This enables consumers to open multiple tabs in the background to compare or view different products in a shorter time span. The app also has the ‘Image search’ feature that was initially designed for mobile devices to let consumers find visually similar items on the online marketplace.
