Facebook Messenger now lets you play Pac-Man

Facebook Messenger has been expanded with Instant Games. This new development has brought Pac-Man right to the messaging screen of your Android and iOS devices.

Through Instant Games, you can start playing some cool games on Facebook Messenger. You just need to tap the game controller icon below your existing conversation to choose a game from the available collection. After that, the Messenger app will transform into a game console panel and let you play solo or even challenge your Facebook friends to compete with you.

Facebook has provided features such as score-based leaderboards, in-context chat and group thread conversations to give a pinch of its social networking flavour. Also, you can access the Instant Games feature from your News Feed.

16 more titles to play

In addition to Pac-Mac, the list of launch titles includes 16 other games such as Galaga, Arkanoid, Space Invaders, Words with Friends: Frenzy, Hex, Endless Lake and 2020 Connect among others. Facebook would add more games over time. Notably, the games are based HTML5 and use minimal resources on devices.

Instant Games on Facebook Messenger brings 17 titles

Facebook has started testing the games on its Messenger with the first roll out in 30 countries. Gradually, this would be expanded around the globe.

Expansion of existing platform

This isn’t the first time when Facebook has diversified its Messenger and moved it apart from just being a messaging source like WhatsApp. Last year, the Mark Zuckerberg-led company revamped the social networking extension as a platform. That progress was followed by several integrations and developments like bots and multiple accounts support.

The debut of Instant Games on Facebook Messenger would enhance engagements on the platform that already has over a billion users worldwide. Moreover, this development might encourage some non-Facebook users to try its messaging service — at least just to play memorable titles like Pac-Man with their Facebook friends.
