DataWind launches Tablet PC 7SC with free one-year internet for Rs. 2,999

DataWind today announced the launch of the Tablet PC 7SC in India. With a price tag of Rs. 2,999, the new tablet comes with free one-year internet access.

The Canadian tablet maker has partnered with Reliance Communications and Telenor to bundle free internet subscription on their prepaid networks. Also, the company has signed an exclusive agreement with Den Snapdeal TV-Shop for selling the new tablet through its TV-commercial channel. “We are launching this tablet to address the forgotten billions, who are our largest constituent of digital age today,” says Suneet Singh Tuli, president and CEO, DataWind, in a press statement.

“We are very confident that 7SC will impress everyone with its superior quality and innovation. The growing ambition of people will find the product within their reach – geographically as well as economically.”

DataWind Tablet PC 7SC comes with free internet access for complete one year

The DataWind Tablet PC 7SC comes equipped with GSM-EDGE connectivity and pre-installed with the company’s proprietary UbiSurfer technology to reduce the bandwidth consumption by up to 30 times. This helps delivering seamless internet experience even on a congested GPRS network. In addition, the tablet is capable of opening webpages in merely five to seven seconds that appears to be faster than what on 3G or 4G network.

The tablet has a 7-inch display with 800 x 480 pixels (WVGA) resolution and multi-touch support. Under the hood, there is a 1.3GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. It has 4GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB via microSD card.

DataWind has provided Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) on the Tablet PC 7SC with some pre-installed apps and features. Besides, the tablet packs a 2,400mAh battery that delivers up to eight hours of backup on a single charge.

The Mississauga, Ontario-based company already has a local manufacturing facility in Amritsar and there are plans to build a new plant in Bihar. Apart from the tablet PCs, the company earlier this year launched its affordable smartphones with free internet access.
