Apple iPad mini, Google Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

Apple iPad mini, Google Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2

Starting with the display, Apple uses an IPS LCD panel but the diagonal measurement is higher than the other two with 7.9-inch, the display gives out the resolution of 768 x 1024 pixels with 162ppi pixel density in the iPad mini. On the other hand, Asus also uses an IPS LCD panel of 7-inch which produces the resolution of 800 x 1280 pixels and give 216ppi pixel density in the Nexus 7. Samsung uses a PLS LCD panel with diagonal measurement of 7-inch which gives out 600 x 1024 pixels resolution with 170ppi pixel density in the Galaxy Tab 2. Well, taking technical specs aside, iPad mini has a larger display with about 0.9-inch diagonally but because of low resolution the pixel density decreased to 162ppi. Screen resolution is highest in the Nexus with 800 x 1280 pixels which also results a higher pixel density of 216ppi, which means images on the screen of the Nexus 7 will be clearer and smoother than on the other two. Here, one thing is also important to be notice, that Samsung uses a PLS LCD display which results more perfect viewing-angles and has about 10 percent more brightness than the ordinary IPS LCD panel, so images on the Galaxy Tab 2 will be more realistic and color reproduction will be more fine than the other two.

Apple iPad mini

7.9-inch larger display

But if screen-size is the only thing which matters you than of course, Apple iPad mini is perfect with 7.9-inch display. So in terms of display the Nexus 7 has more technical advantages but the other two also have good display panels.

Google Nexus 7

Nexus 7 with higher resolution and more pixel density

Display is a technical thing but design is a personal choice, of course measurement matters when comparing the things, so let’s start with the measurement first. Apple iPad mini measures 200mm of height with 134.7mm width and packs in an aluminium frame with 7.2mm thickness. Google Nexus 7 measures 198.5mm height with 120mm width and the tablet uses whole plastic construction with 10.5mm thickness. Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 has a height of 193.7mm with 122.4mm width and Samsung also uses whole plastic construction with 10.5mm thickness. Apple iPad mini is the slimmest among the three with 7.2mm thin body-line and construction-wise we are giving a thumbs up for the iPad mini because of aluminium construction where the other two packs in a plastic body. But of course, due to the larger display, the iPad mini has more height and width than the both. So if you want the slimmest among the three then pick the iPad mini but if you want the smallest among the three then go for Samsung Galaxy Tab 2.

Operating System

Apple iPad mini comes with iOS 6 operating system whereas Google Nexus 7 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 come with Android operating system.

Well, the choice over operating system is just depends upon user’s own consideration because both the operating systems are well-known operating systems in these days and supports almost all the similar apps. But if the user has a Mac based desktop or already using an iPad then we suggest to pick the iPad mini otherwise choose Android platform.
