Nowadays phablets are becoming tablets and tablets are getting smaller as phablets. In such highly competitive market, Indian vendors are on high note with their versatile range of devices. Champion Computers is one of the emerging names in the Indian market and just a beginner in the tablet industry. The vendor recently launched Champion DM6513 in the market, with partnering BSNL, which taken a space in the mini tablet segment. We played with the DM6513 tablet for sometime to cover an in-depth review. So here are our words.

What’s in the Box

Champion DM6513 tablet is among the cheapest tablets in the Indian market. As we said cheapest, the retail box is not likely to have a large number of goodies. In reality, the retail box has decent number of accessories which are required for daily use but nothing to give a surprise.

The retail box of Champion DM6513 has the tablet on the top and underneath, there is a headset, USB-to-microUSB data cable, charger and a user manual. The quality of all the box contents justifies the price tag of the DM6513 tablet.

Its Design

Similar to other entry-level tablets, Champion DM6513 tablet has whole-plastic built with minimalistic design. As the DM6513 tablet is designed with keeping in mind the needs to provide telephony support, there are some inputs in the designing avenue to lighten its telephony support. In short, the designing of the tablet has somehow made it closer to the giant-sized smartphones.

The front panel of Champion DM6513 has a 6.5-inch display with thick bezels on all its four sides. Above the display, when holding the tablet horizontally, there is an earpiece at the center. There are a couple of sensors – an ambient light sensor and a proximity sensor – on the side of the earpiece and a front-facing camera is also available in line of the sensors. As the tablet has on-screen keys, there is no physical or capacitive key available on the front.

On the right side, there is a microSD card slot and a SIM card slot. Both the slots are naked, so dust particles can easily enter in these slots.

The manufacturer has not provided any keys or ports on the right, left and top side, instead Champion DM6513 has a power/lock key, volume rocker, microUSB port, pinhole microphone and a 3.5mm jack on the bottom.

Turning towards the rear shows us an impressive back panel. The back side of Champion DM6513 has a glass-like plastic coating which reminds us the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s, but of course the tablet nowhere stands in such segment. Champion branding and a BSNL logo is available on the rear side and an IMEI sticker is also available there to state the telephony support of the tablet. On the top-left, there is a tiny-sized camera sensor.

Overall, the designing of Champion DM6513 is quite impressive and minimalistic. We liked its rear panel the most although the complete design is comparable with other entry-level tablets. Moreover, the built-quality and weight distribution of the tablet is also decent enough when considering its price.
