Canon EOS-1D X Mark II goes official with 4K video recording support

Canon today set a new benchmark in the world of DSLRs by unveiling the EOS-1D X Mark II. The new DSLR camera supports 4K video recording and features two image processors.

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark II is perhaps the company’s fastest DSLR camera with Dual DIGIC 6+ image processor. There is a 20.2-megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor that uses the dual image processors to offer a fast 14 fps continuous shooting mode. Also, the camera is capable of delivering as many as 170 RAM images in just a single burst.

Canon has used its new 61-point High-Density Reticular AF II system. This works with a built-in Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology to let you select your favourite AF point even while recording a video. The camera is also capable of providing AF with up to f/8 aperture, and comes with an ISO range of 100 to 51,200 that can be extended to 409,600.

On the downside, there isn’t a tiltable monitor to ease video recording but a fixed 3-inch LCD panel with 1.62 million dots resolution. The camera is, however, capable of recording 4K videos at up to 60fps and 1080p videos at 120fps. You can also select any of the AF points while recording videos simply by touching the LCD panel.

The EOS-1D X Mark II has built-in GPS and Wi-Fi to deliver an advanced photography experience. Further, there is Wireless Transmitter compatibility to enable you to wirelessly share photos and videos through an optional accessory. You can also use the provided USB 3.0 port to fast transfer data to your PC.

The Canon EOS-1D X Mark II will be available for purchase in India starting April. It will come with a price tag of Rs. 4,55,995 (body-only).
