BlackBerry today announced the launch of its Priv Android phone in India. The Android Lollipop running BlackBerry Priv comes with a price tag of Rs. 62,990 in the country.
Originally announced back in October last year, the BlackBerry Priv is the company’s first Android phone. It features a 5.4-inch curved AMOLED display with 2560 x 1440 pixels (QHD) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. There is Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system that comes preloaded with the company’s exclusive DTEK privacy control app. Also, the smartphone has proprietary features like verified boot and cryptographic keys-equipped hardware to deliver a secured and private experience.
BlackBerry has provided an option to let enterprise users integrate its EMM solution that works on BES 12 platform. This means that the smartphone can be used in enterprises and companies where end-to-end security is mandatory for employees. In addition, the smartphone has Android for Work support as well as Google Play for Work to help accessing mobility in an enterprise environment.
Apart from the enterprise-centric features, the BlackBerry Priv has full Android support to let you download and access any of your favourite apps. There is Google Play store for download apps and BlackBerry 10 productivity through BlackBerry Hub and BlackBerry Calendar.
Under the hood, the Priv has a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset that has a hexa-core CPU, Adreno 418 GPU and 3GB of RAM. The smartphone also has built-in 32GB storage along with microSD card support for expansion up to 2TB. Further, there is an 18-megapixel rear camera sensor with dual-tone LED flash and optical image stabilisation (OIS) technology and a 5-megapixel front camera sensor.
The smartphone packs a 3,410mAh battery that is claimed to deliver over 22 hours of backup on a single charge. Besides, there is 4G LTE support and BlackBerry Natural Sound technology with three-microphone system.
