While rival WhatsApp just crossed 400 million monthly active users, BlackBerry is set to be a step up and announced the arrival of BBM Voice and Channels for its BBM app on Android and iOS platforms. Besides, BBM will get “faster and easier sharing” of contents.
BlackBerry initially introduced free-calling feature BBM Voice within BBM for BlackBerry 10 in early 2013 and now the Canadian manufacturer is in development to bring BBM Voice to its BBM app for Android and iOS. With the arrival of BBM Voice, Android and iOS users will be able to make free calls to their BBM friends across the globe.
In addition of BBM Voice, BlackBerry is also in development to provide BBM Channels in BBM for Android and iOS. BBM Channels allow users to join conversations happening with the BBM community beyond their contact list. Users can also follow updates from their favourite celebrities and brands.
BlackBerry is also in plans to improve overall experience of the end-users by adding faster and easier sharing of photos, voice notes, current location and more. Lastly, BBM will also get 100 new emoticons such as ROTFL, Epic Fail, Face palm, a serious hug and smiley-poo.
BlackBerry currently testing all the new features and in plans to release an update of BBM for Android and iOS in the next couple months.
