Microsoft did several tweaks in its Windows 8.1 operating system to provide enhance touch experience. Intel also similarly taken a step forward to get into the newly emerged market of hybrid devices. With joining together the offerings by Microsoft and Intel, Asus came into the market and introduced Transformer series of devices to provide a decent 2-in-1 computing experience. Whats in the Box

Asus Transformer Book T100 is an affordable hybrid device that offers the latest Windows 8.1 experience out of the box. Here affordability simply synonymous to the fact that the retail box does not contain a list of things to impress the buyers. But the Transformer Book T100 itself has many things to influence the buyers as well as compete the competitors.

In this regard, our Transformer Book T100 review unit came with an AC charger and a USB-to-microUSB data cable. The retail box also has the same amount of contents alongside a quick start guide.

Though the box contents are few contents when comparing with the competitors, they are enough for usual operations and are made of good quality too.

Its Design

To cut the cost and make the weight light enough, Asus used plastic built on the Transformer Book T100. The manufacturer has used a variety of plastic material on the hybrid device to make it impressive as well as solid alongside maintaining the overall weight.

The tablet part of the Transformer Book T100 has a glossy plastic material on its rear and front. While the rear side features a circular radial pattern with Asus branding, the front has a pure black glossy plastic built. The keyboard docking station, on the other hand, has faux brushed metal finish surrounding alongside matt-finished keys. Besides, a hinge with metal built is available on the dock to  give solid feel when opening and closing the tablet portion.

The Transformer Book T100 has a 10.1-inch display with multi-touch support. There is a camera sensor above the display which can be used for taking self shots and enables video calling. The manufacturer has provided a Windows logo below the display but it is not operational as a home button. Moreover, the bezels around the display are thick enough to make the tablet part solid.

On the right side, there is a 3.5mm jack, micro-HDMI port and a micro-USB port. A microSD card slot is also available on the right to expand the internal storage.

The left side has a home button and a volume rocker. To give decent computing support, the manufacturer has provided a USB 3.0 port on the left side of the keyboard dock which can be used for plug-in any media storage device or input/output device.

The docking station of the Transformer Book T100 has a full-sized keyboard and a proprietary dock that works as a hinge to transform the tablet into a full-fledged notebook. The keys available on the keyboard dock are accurately spaced and fairly responsive to enable long-hour typing. A touchpad is also available on the keyboard dock for cursor and pointing operations.

With 1.2Kg weight, the Transformer Book T100 is quite similar-looking device to Ultrabooks. The plastic material used for the overall built is also of decent quality that nowhere gives feel of a cheap device. In short, the designing of the Transformer Book T100 is well-worth to its price.
