Asus is expected to unveil a 7-inch FonePad with voice communication functionality at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013, in Barcelona. The tablet, or we can say it as phablet, will be powered by an Intel Atom Z2420 processor with 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, according to a report by Digitimes. The upcoming FonePad tablet is likely to be a higher version of earlier 7-inch MeMO Pad.
Along with voice calling support, the FonePad is also likely to have 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and a microUSB port, in terms of connectivity. The FonePad is expected to be run on Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) operating system out of the box. The FonePad will have a 7-inch IPS display with 1280 x 800 pixels resolution, the display will also have multi-touch support. Asus has used a 1.2-megapixel camera on the front and a 3-megapixel camera on the rear of the FonePad, according to some buzzes.
On the other part of the story, the FonePad reportedly feature aluminium body construction and packed with a 4,270mAh battery which is claimed to give 9.5 hours of backup against continues use, as per the recent report via PhoneArena.
Coming towards the pricing, the FonePad supposedly comes with the price-tag of NT$8,000-9,000 (Rs.16K approx.). It is also expected that the FonePad will reach the market anytime in the second quarter of the year 2013. With the 7-inch Android and Windows tablets, Asus has planned to ship 12 million tablets in the year 2013.
