Asus taunts Xiaomi with promising continued availability of Zenfone smartphones

Asus has taunted Xiaomi, which recently discontinued the Mi3, with announcing the continued availability of its Zenfone smartphones. The Taiwanese company has made a promise in a press statement today that it will continue sell its Zenfone series smartphones in India.

Asus has revealed that it aims to be one of the top 5 vendors in India by 2015. The company has already sold around 1 lakh smartphones since its launch on July 9 in one-and-a-half months. It is also coming up with a new 4.5 inch variant soon, the company said in the statement.

The Taipei-based company claims that it “is premeditated to proceed as per the understanding of what users are thinking, feeling, and doing – what they value”.

This statement is certainly a jibe by Asus at Xiaomi as it recently suspended the sale of its highly popular Mi3 smartphone in India, without giving any details on the discontinuation to the media as well as its customers.

Asus Zenfone series smartphones came into the Indian market last month to take on Xiaomi smartphones. While the Zenfone 5 considered to be the close competitor of Xiaomi Mi3, the Zenfone 4 and its recently announced 4.5-inch variant would compete with the upcoming Redmi 1S.
