Introduction

The era of netbooks was almost close to an end with the arrival of affordable tablets and amid the success of Android tablets, Google brought Chrome OS based Chromebooks to offer an all-new cheap computing solution. In that transformation, Asus stepped into the market and introduced EeeBooks to bring netbook form-factor back in action with more power and with the latest Windows operating system. The EeeBook X205TA is the latest EeeBook that the Taiwanese company launched in India last month to give customers an alternative to Chromebooks as well as to offer them an affordable notebook, not just an under-power netbook. We explored the new notebook in detail to test its performance against Chromebooks and other affordable notebooks. So here are our words on the EeeBook X205TA.

Its Design

Most of the netbooks that were launched in the past did not feature high-end design but we already seen some affordable Chromebooks with decent design and sleek built. Asus considered this fact while designing the EeeBook X205TA and thus provided a slim chassis, which has a mix-and-match of glossy color and matte finish to persuade buyers.

The EeeBook X205TA is compact in size, thanks to its 11.6-inch display panel, and the company has provided premium feel using attractive colors and light-weight design. There are four color options – Dark Blue, White, Gold and Red – and the lid has a silver-finished Asus logo. In addition, one can easily notice the streamlined curves on all the four edges.

    Hi Jagmeet,

I wanted to know whether this can handle old games like GTA San Andreas, obviously I don’t expect much but just for my info, I wanna know this.

Also, when you open multiple tabs in Google Chrome consisting of websites which takes so much resources, how did this managed to perform in this situation?

And the last thing- please keep the next previous hyperlinks, or keep the pages link of this review in a place where we can find it easily. I was about to leave the site and suddenly I found the links. 😉

Nice review and blog, by the way!

I just want a alternative laptop which should be able to handle MS Word, Photoshop CS5.1, Google Chrome etc. and may be it would be great if it could run games like San Andreas.

And how many games you tried playing in this? How as the performance with CS7? Please get back to me soon!

Nice review and blog, by the way!

    • Thank you for your words Akash. We tested the EeeBook by playing games like GTA Vice City and the performance was just as smooth as on a high-end notebook. As far as its RAM consumption is concerned, Windows 8.1 handles that without any issue. This means that you can open multiple tabs in a web browser as well.

      • Akash

Oh! Thanks for your quick response!

By the way, when you used Photoshop CS7, did you found any lag? I need just a alternative laptop for basic tasks but Photoshop is something which I’ll be needed the most.

So, please tell me the experience you had when you tried PS CS7. 😀

        Thanks again! 🙂

        • We didn’t find any issue while using Photoshop CS 7, and we even tested its performance on softwares like Premiere Pro. If Photoshop is just your need then we certainly suggest that this Asus EeeBook is just made for you.

          • Akash

Oh! That’s cool! By the way, thanks again for quick response!

By the way, as per I get to know… Photoshop CS7 do not exists. 😮

If you wanted to say Photoshop CC than why don’t you say it? No one says CC as CS7.

          • Thanks for pointing out Akash, it was the CS6 version. As far the Premiere Pro is concerned, you need to make certain tweaks to install the CS4 version but once installed, it runs flawlessly.

          • Akash

            Ok 🙂

Btw, are you having the laptop right now? If yes… than can you can please make a little gaming review of it in minimum 360p quality?

Could you test games like GTA San Andreas, Need for Speed (any version) etc.?

            Thank you! 🙂

          • Akash

And one more thing, only Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 should also be having problems because this is having only Intel HD graphics 1GB video card, which is not sufficient for Pro CS4, I guess.

          • Akash

Please do correct me if I’m wrong. 🙂
