Apple’s iOS 9 is already running on over 50 percent devices

Apple today announced that its iOS 9 update is already running on more than 50 percent devices. This new announcement shows the fastest iOS adoption ever in the history of the company.

The Cupertino giant rolled out iOS 9 update for all the compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models across the globe last week. The update brought new features such as a deeper Spotlight search, low power mode and an improved Siri integration that perhaps encouraged many Apple users to install the update in the very first week of its launch.

Apple says that iOS 9 hit the 50 percent adoption mark on September 19. This is far faster than the time of iOS 8 as it reached to the same mark in about eight days after its formal release last year.

Though Apple has not yet officially released the pre-order figure of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, it mentions that customer response to the new iPhone models has been “incredibly positive”. The new iPhone models are designed as the successor to last year’s iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and are running on iOS 9 out of the box.

“Customer response to the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has been incredibly positive, we can’t wait to get our most advanced iPhones ever into customers’ hands starting this Friday,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iOS 9 is also off to an amazing start, on pace to be downloaded by more users than any other software release in Apple’s history.”

The Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s will go on sale in the US starting September 25. Both the new iPhone models have 3D Touch technology to deliver next-generation multi-touch experience. Moreover, the new iPhones have Apple A9X chip and come in gold, silver, space gray and rose gold metallic finishes.
