Apple Watch battery backup is just about a day

Apple Watch battery backup is just about a day

While the technology world is looking forward to the newly announced Apple Watch, its battery backup would not be a game changer for the wearable device market.

An anonymous source revealed Re/code that the battery backup of Apple Watch is currently just about a day. This does not mean that Apple is not in development to improve the battery life of its first smartwatch. In fact, the company is said to be working on various modifications to give some improvements on the battery side.

On the battery performance, Apple spokeswoman Nat Kerris said the publication, “We anticipate that people will charge nightly which is why we designed an innovative charging solution that combines our MagSafe technology and inductive charging.”

So far, Android Wear-based smartwatches, which are considered to be the closest competitors of Apple Watch, also have low battery backup compared to other smartwatches, specifically Pebble and Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo.

The low battery backup could be one of the reasons that Apple Watch is not yet launched publicly and its availability is stated to be in early 2015. As there is a room for improving the backup simply by tweaking the software front, the company is expected to use its resources for the improvement and bring out an improved device for sale next year.
