Apple has unveiled the anticipated iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus with 3D Touch technology. The new iPhone models are the successor to the company’s last year launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
The Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus both come with 3D Touch technology that brings an all-new multi-touch experience. The new technology is a refined version of the company’s Force Touch technology that was debuted on the Apple Watch last year.
3D Touch on the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus enables two new gestures – Peek and Pop. While Peek allows you to get a sneak peek of a photo, email or webpage by a light press on the screen, Pop takes you to the content by a deeper press. Also, the company has provided some Quick Actions that works just as Air Command on Samsung’s Galaxy Note devices.
The display panels of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus still come in 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch sizes, respectively. Under the hood, there is a 64-bit Apple A9 chipset that is claimed to deliver 70 percent faster CPU and 90 percent faster GPU performance than the A8 chipset. The chipset comes with a built-in M9 motion coprocessor and there is new antennas to enable faster Wi-Fi and LTE Advanced technologies on the iPhone 6s models.
The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus both run on iOS 9 out of the box and have always-on “Hey Siri” functionality to let you simply awake Siri without plugging-in your iPhone. In addition, there are new apps to suit the advanced technology and the latest iOS experience. These apps include a redesigned Notes app, updated Maps and an all-new News app.
For capturing images and recording videos, the Apple iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus sport a 12-megapixel iSight camera sensor on the rear along with an advanced pixel technology and an updated image signal processor. A 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera is available on the front with Retina flash that just makes the display three times faster with True Tone lighting to deliver high-end selfie experience, despite the absence of a front-facing LED light. Further, the rear camera is capable of recording 4K (Ultra-HD) videos and the front camera records 1080p (FHD) videos with 30fps frame rate.
Apple has updated Camera app on the new iPhone models with Live Photos feature that lets you capture short-length videos just as photos. The feature seems to make GIFs of the photos, just as Periscope and Meerkat offer on their ends.
The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus comes in a 7000 series aluminium built that has ion-strengthened glass panel on top and there is a total four new color options, including silver, gold, space grey and rose gold metallic finish.
Apple will start selling the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, Singapore, the UK and the US beginning September 25. Customers can start pre-ordering their favourite iPhone 6s model starting September 12.
