Though Android smartphones hold some records, Apple iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C made a new history with over 9 million sales in just three days after their launch in a small number of regions. The Cupertino giant also revealed that now over 200 million iOS devices are running on the latest iOS 7 platform.

Apple has been started selling the flagship iPhone 5S and the cheaper iPhone 5C since September 20. As a following trend, the new iPhone variants are currently available in just a few regions, including the US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK. Undoubtedly, the strong Apple fan following in the regions breaks all the previous records and the sales reaches to 9 million units in a short span of time.

As the company stated in an earlier statement, the new iPhone sales is of course incredibly high than the predecessors. Due to the heavy demand of the iPhone 5S, the manufacturer even hardly able to fulfill the initial supply and many online orders are now scheduled to be shipped in the coming weeks.

On announcing the incredible initial results of the iPhone 5S and the iPhone 5C, Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO said;

“This is our best iPhone launch yet―more than nine million new iPhones sold―a new record for first weekend sales. The demand for the new iPhones has been incredible, and while we’ve sold out of our initial supply of iPhone 5s, stores continue to receive new iPhone shipments regularly. We appreciate everyone’s patience and are working hard to build enough new iPhones for everyone.”

It was quite predictable even before the announcement that the new iPhone variants would take over some market shares at a pace than any previous iPhone. As per the sales record of the former iPhone, the iPhone 5, Apple sold 5 million units in first the weekend but now the game is changed due to the debut of the cheaper iPhone 5C along with the iPhone 5S.

Android is dominating the global smartphone market but Apple has its ace in the form of the new iOS platform. As per the statement released today, iOS 7 is now running on more than 200 million Apple devices. The milestone is again far away than the one set in the previous year, however, Android is also at a peak this time. Apple released iOS 7 final build for the end-users last Thursday and now it is available across the globe.
