Amazon unveils new Fire tablets with quad-core processors, Fire OS 5 ‘Bellini’ support

Amazon today unveiled its new Fire tablets with a starting price of $49.99. The new Fire tablets range includes a 7-inch new Fire tablet, Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 and is based on Android Lollipop-based Fire OS 5 ‘Bellini’ operating system.

First in the new range of Fire tablets is the new Fire tablet that sports a 7-inch IPS display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with up to 128GB expandable storage. The tablet is claimed to have two times more processing power than the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite and is two times more durable than the Apple iPad Air 2.

The new Fire tablet has a built-in battery pack that is claimed to deliver up to seven hours of reading, web browsing, music and video playback on a single charge.

After the new Fire tablet, Amazon has the new Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 with 8-inch and 10.1-inch HD IPS display panels, respectively. Both the new Fire HD tablets have 1.5GHz quad-core processor and up to 128GB expandable storage via microSD card. There is Dolby Audio to deliver high-quality sound, 5-megapixel rear camera sensor and a 720p front camera sensor with video chat support.

All the new Fire tablets come with Fire OS ‘Bellini’ support that has an updated user interface to offer a new home screen with dedicated content pages for books, games and apps, video, music, audiobooks and periodicals. In addition, there is Amazon Prime and Kindle Unlimited integration.

Amazon has offered some of its exclusive features on the new Fire tablets that includes ASAP, X-Ray, Second Screen, Family Library, Amazon FreeTime and Prime Video downloads among others. The tablets also have Mayday Screen Sharing support that was debuted on the Fire Phone to enable remotely expert guidance on any feature available on the screen.

The new Fire tablet will be available with a price tag of $49.99, while the Fire HD 8 will be available for $149.99 and the Fire HD 10 for $229.99. All the new tablets will start shipping in the US beginning September 30. Customers can also avail six-pack Fire tablet under which six new Fire tablets will be available for $249.95.
