Amazon launches new Kindle Paperwhite in India, starting at Rs. 10,999
Amazon today launched its new Kindle Paperwhite e-reader in India. The new Kindle Paperwhite will be available in the Indian market starting February 4. While the Wi-Fi only variant will be available for Rs. 10,999, the Kindle Paperwhite 3G variant will reach the market with the price tag of Rs. 13,999.
On announcing the launch of the new Kindle Paperwhite in India, Amit Agarwal, Vice President and Country Manager, Amazon India, said;
“Kindle is the best-selling e-reader in the world for six years running, and now it’s even better. he new Kindle Paperwhite features brand-new display technology, the next generation of our built-in light, a faster processor, plus new features like Kindle Page Flip and Vocabulary Builder. We are excited to make Kindle Paperwhite available to our customers in India.”
The new Kindle Paperwhite was originally announced for the global market back in September, last year. The new Kindle Paperwhite is claimed to feature new display technology with higher contrast than the previous generation Kindle Paperwhite. Besides, there is the next generation built-in light, a faster processor and the latest touch technology to enhance users’ experience while reading for long hours.
Amazon has provided some new features in the all-new Kindle Paperwhite, including Kindle Page Flip, Smart Lookup and Kindle Free Time. Users can also access the reading material through provided Cloud Collections. An experimental web browser also comes pre-installed to give on-the-go browsing support on Wi-Fi or a 3G network.
The new Kindle Paperwhite has a 6-inch Paperwhite display, 1GHz single-core Freescape processor and 2GB internal storage for storing up to 1,100 ebooks. The e-reader comes with a battery life of up to 8 weeks under half an hour of reading per day.
