Amazon launches new Kindle Paperwhite in India with 300ppi display

Amazon today launched its new Kindle Paperwhite e-reader in India that features an all-new 300ppi (pixel-per-inch) display. The new Paperwhite comes with a starting price of Rs. 10,999 and will be available for purchase through Amazon India’s site starting June 30.

The display on the new Kindle Paperwhite delivers 300ppi resolution that was previously debuted on the Kindle Voyage. This new resolution makes on-screen content on the e-reader twice shaper than its predecessor that had 150ppi resolution.

In addition, Amazon has provided a new Bookerly font on the new Kindle Paperwhite that has been especially designed to offer improved readability. The e-reader also has an all-new typesetting engine that provides enhanced spacing between each word and delivers improved character placement.

Apart from the two major changes, the new Kindle Paperwhite has the same list of specifications that were available with its previous generation and the design as well as built quality is also remained the same. This means that users can use the same covers and cases with the new Kindle Paperwhite that they had with their old e-reader.

The Kindle Paperwhite comes with weeks of battery life and has proprietary features including Whispersync and X-Ray. Besides, there is preloaded Vocabulary Builder, Kindle Page Flip and Smart Lookup.

Moreover, Amazon has not changed the price of the new Kindle Paperwhite. The Wi-Fi version is available for Rs. 10,999 and the Wi-Fi+3G comes with a price tag of Rs. 13,999. Customers in India can now pre-order through Amazon India, while its shipments will begin starting June 30.
