Amazon today launched its all-new Kindle ebook reader in India. With a price tag of Rs. 5,999, the new Kindle ebook reader has a 20-percent faster processor, twice the storage and a touchscreen display to give users an upgraded experience over its predecessor.

The new Kindle ebook reader comes with a list of features to help the readers. The company claims that the reader is especially designed to give weeks of batter life to enhance the reading experience and its e-ink display gives no glare even under bright sunlight.

On the features avenue, the new Kindle reader has Kindle FreeTime which provides hand-select ebooks for kids to read during free time and a progress report will also be given to their parents on total time spent on reading, number of words looked up, badges earned and books finished. The ebook reader is preloaded with a vocabulary builder which is designed to expand the knowledge of the readers with giving new words through flashcards to make their vocabulary strong. In addition, there is Smart Lookup feature which is an integrated dictionary and gives reference information from sources such as X-Ray and Wikipedia.

Amazon has provided its Wispersync feature which automatically saves and synchronises the last page that user read, bookmarked or annotated across their devices and Kindle apps. Lastly, users can share book recommendations, highlighted sections and meaningful quotes with their friends and contacts on Facebook and Twitter.

Apart from the current list of features, Amazon is set to add new features like Word Wise and Enhanced Search as a part of free over-the-air (OTA) software update over the coming months. These new features will also be headed to Kindle Paperwhite reader.
