Amazon today started selling Kindle Fire HD tablets and Kindle Paperwhite in India. Amazon started taking pre-order for the Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and Kindle Paperwhite earlier this month. The American concern Amazon has partnered with Redington to distribute the tablets and ebook readers in the country, across several electronic retail stores.
Indian consumers can now purchase Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Kindle Fire HD 8.9 and Kindle Paperwhite through Amazon India online store and the company has also started selling the new devices through major brick-and-mortar electronic stores in the country. As far the price is concerned, Amazon Kindle Fire HD is priced at Rs.15,999 and the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 is priced at Rs.21,999. The latest ebook readers, Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (Wi-Fi edition) is having a price tag of Rs.10,999 and the Kindle Paperwhite 3G is priced at Rs.13,999.
Amazon Kindle Fire HD tablets are designed to compete mid-range Android tablets and Apple iPad mini. Amazon Kindle Fire HD has a 7-inch HD display, 1.2GHz dual-core processor and up to 11 hours of battery life. On the other side, the Kindle Fire HD 8.9 has an 8.9-inch HD display, 1.5GHz dual-core processor and up to 10 hours of battery life. Both the tablets run on modified Android Jelly Bean operating system and having 16GB / 32GB storage options.
Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is the successor of earlier launched Kindle ebook reader. The Kindle Paperwhite has a 6-inch illuminated display with multi-touch support. There is 2GB internal storage along with microSD card support for expansion and up to 8 week battery life against decent usage. For connectivity, there is Wi-Fi or Wi-Fi + 3G options.
