Bharti Airtel today formally announced that it has started rolling out its 4G services for subscribers in Delhi NCR. As we reported earlier this week, the services are initially rolling out as 4G trials to existing Airtel subscribers in the region on FD and TD network technology.
Under the trials, subscribers in Delhi NCR area can avail Airtel 4G services as free upgrade at 3G prices. The telecom operator will start informing its subscribers in the region to upgrade their existing connections to receive feedback in the initial stage.
Apart from rolling out its 4G trials, Airtel has announced go-to-market partnerships with Samsung and Flipkart to expand its services in Delhi NCR.
Select retail stores of Samsung India will start facilitating customers with Airtel 4G SIM swap who buy new 4G smartphones, including the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge, Galaxy A7, Galaxy A5 and the recently launched Galaxy Core Prime 4G. In addition, the company will offer bundled Airtel 4G connections with select 4G handsets in the region.
Flipkart, on the other hand, already started offering Airtel 4G with double data benefits to its customers buying select 4G handsets.
On announcing the roll out of 4G services, Sarang Kanade, Hub CEO – Delhi NCR and Rajasthan, Bharti Airtel (India), said:

This will imply faster 4G speeds and wider network coverage – thus delivering a superior 4G experience for Airtel customers in Delhi NCR. We invite our customers to participate in this trial phase and become the first in the city to be delighted with the amazing 4G experience.”
Existing Airtel subscribers in Delhi NCR can avail the complimentary 4G upgrade by switching to a 4G SIM through visiting their nearest Airtel Store.
Airtel is the first telecom operator in India that launched its 4G services back in April 2012 to offer subscribers high-speed data access. So far, its 4G services are available in several major cities across India including Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai and Pune among others.
