Acer unveils new Android Lollipop and Windows 10 smartphones

Acer debuted at the IFA 2015 in Berlin with four new Android Lollipop and two new Windows 10 Mobile running smartphones. The new smartphones have Acer BluelightShield display technology and come with DTS Studio Sound audio.

First in the range of new Android smartphones is the Acer Liquid Z630. This new smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD display and is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor that has 2GB of RAM and 16GB expandable storage. There is an 8-megapixel rear camera sensor with 1080p video recording support, 8-megapixel front camera sensor and a 4,000mAh battery.

The company also announced the Liquid Z630S as a high-end variant of the Liquid Z630 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage.

Apart from the Liquid Z630, Acer announced the Liquid Z530 as its new selfie smartphone. It has a 5-inch HD IPS display and is powered by a 64-bit 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 processor. There is up to 2GB of RAM, 16GB internal storage and an 8-megapixel front camera sensor with 84-degree wide-angle lens.

The Acer Liquid Z530 has some proprietary photo enhancements through Gourmet mode to please food photographers and there are features like touch-to-capture and smile shutter to give an enhanced image-taking experience. The smartphone also comes in Liquid Z530S variant with an octa-core processor, 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage.

For the entry-level market segment, Acer has brought the Liquid Z330 Android smartphone and the Liquid M330 Windows 10 smartphone. Both the smartphone models have the same list of specifications, albeit different operating systems. There is a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 processor, 4.5-inch FWVGA display, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and 5-megapixel front and rear camera sensors.

The company also announced the Liquid Z320 and the Liquid M320 affordable smartphones. Both the smartphones have 4.5-inch FWVGA display, Qualcomm Snapdragon (MS8209) processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, 5-megapixel rear camera sensor and 2-megapixel front camera sensor.

On announcing the new smartphones, ST Liew, president of Acer’s Smart Products Business Group, said:

We focused on bringing these attributes to the forefront in our new models. Enhanced sound, camera and features along with Acer’s easy to use UI makes these models ideal for anyone looking for a first smartphone, or upgrade from a basic model for a superb media experience.”

All the new Acer Liquid series smartphones have Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and a microUSB port on the connectivity front and come with 4G LTE support. The Android smartphones have the company’s proprietary Acer Liquid UI.

The Acer Liquid Z630 will be available starting this month with an initial price of €199, while Acer Liquid Z530 and the Liquid Z330 will be available in October with price tag of €149 and €129, respectively. The Windows 10 Mobile running Acer Liquid M330 will be sometime later this month with a price tag of €129.
