Acer Aspire R13 convertible notebook with Ezel Aero Hinge launched in India

Acer Aspire R13 convertible notebook has been officially launched in India today. With a starting price tag of Rs. 83,999, the new convertible notebook features a unique Ezel Aero Hinge design to offer as many as six different modes for various computing experiences.

The company has partnered with Tata Group-subsidiary Infinity Retail for exclusively selling the Aspire R13 in the country through select Croma stores starting today.

Originally announced at the IFA 2014, Acer Aspire R13 features a 13.3-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1080 pixels (full-HD) resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The display panel is affixed to the Ezel Aero Hinge that has a patented dual-torque system to keep the display stable while its rotation in up to 180 degrees.

The hinge design enables the convertible notebook to have six different modes – Notebook mode for a productivity experience with a chiclet keyboard, Ezel mode to add reading and web browsing functionality, Stand mode to let users easily draw a flow chat, take notes or edit their artwork, Pad mode for playing games and watching videos, Tent mode to add kitchen computing capabilities and Display mode to allow users to view photos and videos.

Acer has provided an Intel Core i5 processor on the Aspire R13, which is powering the notebook, along with up to 512GB of Solid State Drive (SSD) and up to 8GB of RAM. The notebook has an optional Active Pen support and comes preloaded with Acer’s Hover Access software support to support pen inputs.

The Aspire R13 runs on Windows 8.1 operating system and comes pre-installed with Skype for video chat and VoIP support. There is Dolby Digital Plus Home Theater audio support for cinematic surround sound experience and Acer’s proprietary Purified Voice with dual-array microphone for recording audio with low noise levels.

Acer claims that the Aspire R13 has an advanced dual air-intake design to offer a cool and quite computing experience. In addition, the notebook is claimed to deliver up to eight hours of battery life.
