As many as 60,000 units of Xiaomi Redmi 1S went on sale in India for the fifth time through Flipkart earlier today but the entire stock sold out in just 13.9 seconds. The next round of the Redmi 1S flash sale is scheduled for October 14 and the company is also set to announce “something special” next week.

Xiaomi has started the pre-registration process for the sixth flash sale from 6p.m. today and the registration window will remain open till the midnight of October 13. As pre-registration is mandatory for the sale, users need to sign-in using their Flipkart account before the end of registration to secure their Redmi 1S.

Unlike the previous flash sales, the Chinese company this time stated that a surprise announcement will be happen next week. This suggests that the company would bring back its highly demanded Xiaomi Mi3, which was temporarily discontinued in India, or start selling the Redmi Note to take on some large screen smartphones such as Asus Zenfone 6.

Xiaomi launched its Redmi 1S in July and started its sale early this month with a price tag of Rs. 5,999. With total five round of flash sales, the Beijing-based company has so far sold 2.4 lakh units of the entry-level smartphone.

The Redmi 1S is giving tough competition to other entry-level smartphones with its specifications similar to some of the mid-range smartphones. The smartphone has a 4.7-inch HD IPS display with ACG Dragontrail glass protection, 1.6GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8GB expandable storage, 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2,000mAh battery.
